Information we collect
You may browse our Site without disclosing any personal information. To use certain features of our Site, however, you may need to provide some personal information.
We collect information about you when you open an account with us through this website. Once you have registered or have opened an account with us, we will know who you are and your activities on our website.
If you email or send us a secure message as an existing customer, we may ask you for your name, email address and/or telephone number so we can respond to your questions and comments. You may choose to provide additional information as well. The information you provide to us together with information we may collect about your computer using cookies may be linked on our systems to you.
We collect certain aggregate and non-personal information when you visit this site. Aggregate and non-personal information does not relate to a single identifiable visitor. It tells us such things as how many users visited our site and the pages accessed.
We may also collect information anonymously with the aid of a 'Pop-Up Survey´. Pop-Up Surveys are windows that appear as you navigate our site and that request you to submit information concerning your views on our site or other information that helps us in determining how to improve it. Information requested through Pop-Up Surveys is not personally identifiable unless you volunteer personal information in your response. What we mean by 'anonymously´ in this policy is that we will not use the IP address of your computer, which is sent to our systems when you connect to this site or submit data, to personally identify you.
We would like to contact you to let you know about our products, services and promotions. We will only contact you by e-mail, phone or post where you have opted in for marketing communications for each of these methods. You can unsubscribe from this type of contact from us at any time. See below for information about how to unsubscribe.
We do not share your personal data for marketing outside GE without your permission. We might sometimes pass on aggregated anonymised information to other companies, such as advertisers, but they can’t tell who the information is about.
How to unsubscribe
To unsubscribe from marketing communications or change your marketing communications preferences you need to log in to your account, go to the ‘Change Details’ section and amend your settings under ‘Marketing Preferences’. We will always give you an opportunity to unsubscribe when we send you any marketing emails.

We do not use encryption tools in connection with this site and cannot accept responsibility for the unauthorised access by a third party and/or the corruption of data sent by you to us during transmission. If you are providing us with confidential data, you should consider sending such data by post or other secure means.
Risks of downloading files from the Internet
Whenever you download a file from the Internet, there is always a risk that the file may contain a virus, Trojan or a program that can damage your computer or steal your information. You can learn more about keeping your account safe here.
Here are some precautions you can take to help protect your computer when you download files:
- Install and use an antivirus program. Antivirus programs scan files before opening them and notify you if a file is potentially unsafe. Be sure to keep your antivirus program up to date.
- Only download files from websites that you trust.
- Be cautious of certain file types. Some file types are less safe because they can carry viruses. The main file types to avoid are program files with extensions such as .exe, .scr, .bat, .com, or .pif. Often a potentially dangerous file is disguised as a less risky file type, because it has two file name extensions such as, filename.txt.exe. This example might look like a text file, but it's actually an executable file.
Phishing is the name given to attempts to steal personal details and financial account details from a website user. “Phishers” use fake or “spoof” emails to lead users to counterfeit websites where the user is misled into entering their personal details, such as credit card numbers, user names and passwords. GE will never send emails asking you for such details and GE Capital Direct Staff will never ask you for your password.
If you do receive such an email or are asked for your password by anyone claiming to work for GE Capital Direct please forward the email to firstname.lastname@example.org or report the incident by telephone to our Customer Service team (contact details are at the end of this policy).
This site is not directed to children under the age of thirteen and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of thirteen on the site. If we become aware that we have inadvertently received personal information from a visitor under the age of thirteen on the site, we will delete the information from our records.

It may, however, let us know anonymously, which services and features you are using the most within the application, as well as device type and hardware features, country and language of download.
Use of 3rd party services such as social sharing sites (e.g., Facebook & Twitter) is governed by the privacy practices of those services. GE does not capture or store your login information or other personally identifiable information for these services, however session info or cookies may be stored.
